The 2024 TMAC Electric Day was held this year on Sunday 14th
of July. 15 pilots registered for flying
at the event all hailing from TMAC. Numbers
were down on previous years, maybe due to the cold overnight temperature and
the brisk westerly breeze however the sunny conditions were a bonus.
General flying was the order of the day with a wide variety
of model types in evidence. It was great
to see George MacKenzie’s twin engine trainer as well as Dave Sipos’ fleet of
small warbirds – 2 Corsairs, an SE5a and a “make believe” Eindecker. Ross Schilling again brought out Malcolm
Bouchard’s old-timer Zephyr. Apart from
the occasional bouncy landing, the day was without incidents leading to
aircraft damage.
Thanks to our sponsor, Michael Heynen from Wired RC for his
generous donation of prizes for the pilots draw and raffle. Michael also showed us a thing or two on the
day about snap rolls!
Congratulations to Mack Dodd for winning the SR71 Blackbird EDF
in the raffle. Mack’s pilot draw ticket
was then also picked for the pilot prize and like a true sportsman he chose a
Wired RC cap instead of the major prize of an Eflite Opterrra flying wing. The next draw saw Ray Perrina also choosing a
Wired RC cap and on the third draw, George McKenzie was the lucky winner of the
Opterra!
Thanks to the helpers for the event including Lois and Phil Collings,
Randall Mowlam, Russ Cardow and Mack Dodd for canteen work. As usual, Dave
Walker’s mowing and field presentation was top class.
